The main task in the region for April and May has been to conduct annual reviews in each of the corps. Trying to fit all these in before the regional review in the middle of May has been challenging, but the effort has been well rewarded as we all try to gain a wider appreciation of the work of The Salvation Army in Georgia.
Planning and preparing for the reviews has involved a great deal of hard work from so many people, so it is good to record heart-felt thanks for all this effort. Hopefully we will see the fruit of this work in the days to come.
This hard work reached its conclusion with the visit of Chief Secretary, Lt Col Kharkov from THQ in Moscow who conducted the regional review on 16 & 17 May. It is always good to have a clear picture of where we are, in order to establish where we might be going and it is our hope that the attempts made over recent weeks to discover the reality of the situation in Georgia will help to point the way forward.
Towards the conclusion of his time in Georgia Lt Col Kharkov gave the message at Ponichala corps. This was probably his last visit to Georgia before taking up his appointment as the Officer Commanding of the new Russia Command. We pray God’s blessing upon Sasha.
