It\u2019s been three years since we arrived in Moldova to take up our appointments\u00a0<\/span>in<\/span>\u00a0Eastern Europe Territory.\u00a0 We had no idea what lay before us but we trusted in God for His leading<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>direction<\/span>\u00a0and protection<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

We have\u00a0<\/span>had\u00a0<\/span>opportunities\u00a0<\/span>to\u00a0<\/span>m<\/span>e<\/span>et the amazing people that live in the countries that make up the Territory<\/span>\u00a0and have\u00a0<\/span>also\u00a0<\/span>witnessed God\u2019s presence in the lives of His people<\/span>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Little did we know the events that would unfold during the last year<\/span>. Covid 19 c<\/span>aught us all by surprise at the beginning 2020,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>and then in\u00a0<\/span>July\u00a0<\/span>we\u00a0<\/span>commenced new\u00a0<\/span>appoint<\/span>ments<\/span>\u00a0as the Territorial Leaders.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>We have been disappointed that Covid restrictions have meant that\u00a0<\/span>we have been unable to travel around the Territory and visit the corps and DHQ\u2019s.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

One thing that has stood out for us from the moment we arrived here is the resilience of the people and passion\u00a0<\/span>for prayer<\/span>.\u00a0 We have\u00a0<\/span>sat in meetings and felt the incredible power of the prayers of God\u2019s people!\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

\u00a0<\/span>If there was ever a time when we needed to draw close to God and lift our voices to him, it is now.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

There are many things happening in our world that are a cause for\u00a0<\/span>concern and dominate our prayers. I am sure you have been praying for those impacted by the Covid 19\u00a0<\/span>p<\/span>andemic<\/span>\u00a0and<\/span>\u00a0for\u00a0<\/span>those\u00a0<\/span>who have continued to minister to\u00a0<\/span>the<\/span>\u00a0community in this most trying of times<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

T<\/span>here are many other things we need to bring before God<\/span>\u00a0in prayer..<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

International Headquarters has recognised our newly commenced ministry Bulgaria<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u2013 this is now the 132<\/span>nd<\/span>\u00a0country<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>where The Salvation Army is ministering.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

W<\/span>e have launched\u00a0<\/span>the<\/span>\u00a0new Territorial Strategic Plan<\/span>\u00a0for Eastern Europe Territory<\/span>\u00a0with the theme Faith and Courage, based on Joshua 1.9<\/span>. If you haven\u2019t already heard about this exciting plan, you will soon.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

With all that is happening\u00a0<\/span>it is important that we have a\u00a0<\/span>focussed time of prayer as a territory.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>We may not be able to gather together in person<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0but we can come together and pray.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

So<\/span>, as part of the Eastern Europe Territory, we would like you to join with us for 40\u00a0<\/span>D<\/span>ays of\u00a0<\/span>P<\/span>rayer.<\/span>\u00a0A time to pray for our communities, country,\u00a0<\/span>social justice issues that impact the people of the world<\/span>, The Salvation\u00a0<\/span>Army<\/span>, and our personal relationship with Jesus.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

\u00a0Your\u00a0<\/span>Divisional Leaders and\u00a0<\/span>Corps Officers have been forwarded information about your involvement in this<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0and many of you have<\/span>\u00a0contribute<\/span>d<\/span>\u00a0a short prayer video which will be made available<\/span>\u00a0through the EET websites and social media<\/span>\u00a0each day from<\/span>\u00a0April\u00a0<\/span>13<\/span>\u00a0to<\/span>\u00a0May\u00a0<\/span>22, 2021<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

\u00a0This<\/span>\u00a0time<\/span>\u00a0will\u00a0<\/span>conclude with a Commitment Sunday on\u00a0<\/span>May 23 where each person who attends The Salvation Army will be encouraged to look at their relationship with Jesus<\/span>\u00a0and the difference He makes in the lives of those who put their\u00a0<\/span>faith and courage<\/span><\/b>\u00a0in Him<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

We look forward to what God is going to do in and through us as we humble ourselves and pray.\u00a0<\/span>It is our prayer that<\/span>\u00a0you will join us in prayer throughout these 40 days.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>
