40 Days of Prayer

It’s been three years since we arrived in Moldova to take up our appointments in Eastern Europe Territory.  We had no idea what lay before us but we trusted in God for His leadingdirection and protection

We have had opportunities to meet the amazing people that live in the countries that make up the Territory and have also witnessed God’s presence in the lives of His people.

Little did we know the events that would unfold during the last year. Covid 19 caught us all by surprise at the beginning 2020, and then in July we commenced new appointments as the Territorial Leaders.  We have been disappointed that Covid restrictions have meant that we have been unable to travel around the Territory and visit the corps and DHQ’s.

One thing that has stood out for us from the moment we arrived here is the resilience of the people and passion for prayer.  We have sat in meetings and felt the incredible power of the prayers of God’s people!

If there was ever a time when we needed to draw close to God and lift our voices to him, it is now.

There are many things happening in our world that are a cause for concern and dominate our prayers. I am sure you have been praying for those impacted by the Covid 19 pandemic and for those who have continued to minister to the community in this most trying of times.

There are many other things we need to bring before God in prayer...

International Headquarters has recognised our newly commenced ministry Bulgaria – this is now the 132nd country where The Salvation Army is ministering.

We have launched the new Territorial Strategic Plan for Eastern Europe Territory with the theme Faith and Courage, based on Joshua 1.9. If you haven’t already heard about this exciting plan, you will soon.

With all that is happening it is important that we have a focussed time of prayer as a territory.  We may not be able to gather together in person, but we can come together and pray.

So, as part of the Eastern Europe Territory, we would like you to join with us for 40 Days of Prayer. A time to pray for our communities, country, social justice issues that impact the people of the world, The Salvation Army, and our personal relationship with Jesus.

Your Divisional Leaders and Corps Officers have been forwarded information about your involvement in this, and many of you have contributed a short prayer video which will be made available through the EET websites and social media each day from April 13 to May 22, 2021.

This time will conclude with a Commitment Sunday on May 23 where each person who attends The Salvation Army will be encouraged to look at their relationship with Jesus and the difference He makes in the lives of those who put their faith and courage in Him.

We look forward to what God is going to do in and through us as we humble ourselves and pray. It is our prayer that you will join us in prayer throughout these 40 days.

May God bless each one in these significant days in the life of the Territory.
